Deep red in colour, a tangy and mildly spiced blend of tomato and tamarind paste, cooked with ginger and curry leaves, tempered with mustard seeds and red chillies.

This delicious Gujarati pickle takes time and effort to make but the results are well worth it. Grated raw mango is mixed with sugar and processed in the sun.

 

A delicious pickle with mango shreds in the sugary syrup looking like marmalade.  It is brownish orange in colour and is sweet and sour it has a distinct flavour of asafoetida and roasted cumin.

 

Best enjoyed with thepla, typical Gujarati bread.

CHATAK CHILLI PICKLE

 

A traditional Goan chilli pickle

 

It is typically Goan but has a pan Indian flavour and is generally enjoyed by anyone who likes to adventurous when it comes to food. Add a spoonful to Chinese Manchurian for extra zing.

 

Dark brown in colour, it is hot, sour and spicy.  Cooked with tamarind the pickle as a granular texture with small pieces of green chillies making their presence felt.

 

Tastes exceptionally great with bread, especially the Goan pav.
